As a songwriter: Do you have a favourite chord?

Singer-songwriters Leoni Jane Kennedy, TJ Walker and guitarist Anders Rye talk to us about what is their favourite chord is and why.

 

Leoni Jane Kennedy

Leoni is an up and coming singer-songwriter whose music has been described as ‘haunting’ with very intricate guitar melodies and riffs. Since winning the Freddie Mercury Scholarship to attend her university, Leoni has begun to build her career as a musician around the Guildford/London area with her band backing her for gigs in bigger venues. The band have worked on a 7 song album and their single Life Like This with famous producer of Motorhead and Uriah Heep, John Gallen.

T J Walker

T J started playing the ukulele banjo aged 4 and took up guitar when he was 7.  By the time he was 15 he had started working in professional bands and has since performed all over the world in venues including the Royal Albert Hall and the O2 Arena.  He also writes music for radio, TV and film, and his credits include the BBC Radio One Live Lounge theme and BBC 6 Music. T J has recently released his debut solo album of original songs entitled The Long Game.

Anders Rye

Anders Rye obtained his Popular Music degree from London College of Music and Media and has worked as a professional live and studio musician, appearing on various radio and TV shows. He has performed all over the world, including at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool, and most recently with artists like Shalamar and Jason Donovan. In addition to his work as a consultant for Trinity’s Rock & Pop and Acoustic Guitar syllabuses, Anders is a member of the Trinity Rock & Pop examiner panel, and also wrote the teaching notes for the classical guitar book series Raise the Bar.
