Digital Inclusion in the Language Classroom 

Judit Kormos

 

During this plenary session, we will discuss how teachers can ensure that language learners with diverse abilities can access and use digital technology efficiently and effectively to support their learning processes.

 

Judit will explore various aspects of digital inclusion and how technology can meet the needs of neurodiverse students and the kind of training and support they might need to harness the benefits of digital tools.

 

The importance of identifying barriers for engaging with technology and the application of universal design principles in teaching and assessment will also be addressed. This session will conclude with an overview of recent developments on digital inclusion in course design, assessment and offer suggestions for every day classroom practice.


 

About the presenter

Judit Kormos, Professor of Second Language Acquisition at Lancaster University, specializes in cognitive processes in additional language learning. Her work, including the book Teaching Languages to Students with Specific Learning Differences, explores dyslexia's impact. Kormos has contributed to studies on the accessibility of language tests for young learners and played a pivotal role in award-winning EU-sponsored projects. As lead educator for the Dyslexia and Foreign Language Teaching MOOC on FutureLearn, she conducts global workshops on inclusive language teaching.
