Workshop: ‘Best Practice for GESE Preparation’
Southbourne School of English, Bournemouth, Friday 3 May, 13.30 – 16:30
The Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) are 1:1 oral assessments of speaking and listening skills with a professional examiner. Available at 12 grades from pre-A1 to C2, they are suitable for learners of all abilities and ages. Preparation for the exam focuses on the development of authentic communicative skills and on building the confidence to use English in real life.
This workshop is designed to support schools and their staff with specific ideas and guidance for preparing students for the exam as part of a short-stay junior programme. Teacher-trainer and examiner Nigel McEwen will provide an outline of the exam requirements in each level band, and demonstrate how GESE easily maps to general English language syllabuses and coursework. He will also give teachers a practical bank of activity ideas that can be used and adapted for GESE preparation at each level.
