Dear teachers, students, parents, and all other members of the South African performing arts community,

We would like to thank the South African music and drama community for the support shown to Trinity College London in 2022, and to congratulate all the candidates who completed their exams. It was an interesting year with the mix of digital and in person exams providing choices for our teachers and candidates across the country. This hybrid exam model will continue into the future, and while Trinity is committed to traditional in person exams we want to grow our digital exam offerings over the coming years. I will expand on this in more detail next year. New Woodwind Syllabus

We are delighted to announce the launch of Woodwind and Jazz Woodwind 2023. Available for immediate use in exams, the syllabuses have now been published and the print and ebooks can be purchased online. Read more about the new syllabus on the TCL Website.

From this new release, Trinity’s Woodwind and Jazz Woodwind syllabuses will no longer operate with an end date. They will remain valid until further notice and any planned updates will be announced at least 12 months in advance. Trinity will continue to increase the repertoire available to candidates through a continual programme of new publication releases. This will include a diverse range of exciting exam books, individual digital downloads, ebooks, anthologies and more. Get your new syllabus books from your preferred local book supplier.

New TCL Digital Exam Platform

Anyone who has entered a digital exam over the past ten days will be aware that Trinity is now using a new exam submission system. The main difference with the new system is that you no longer need to upload an exam submission form. I'm referring to the form listing the repertoire and technical aspects of the exam, this information is now captured via the video upload webpage. 2023 Face-to-Face Exam Dates

I had hoped to share definite dates for all in person exam sessions but it hasn't been possible to pin down the exact dates yet, apart from the Theory dates which are:

Theory Session 1 - Saturday May 13th
Theory Session 2 - Saturday November 4th

Early in the New Year we will share definitive music and drama exam session dates. For now we can give the following broad guidance.

In most regions we plan to run in person drama sessions between September and November.

We are committed to running early (May/June) face-to-face music (Classical and Rock & Pop) sessions in our larger centers, as well as in person music exams in all centers between September and November. There is likely to be a directive that early grade music exams are taken digitally throughout the year, thus reserving face-to-face slots for higher grades. The rationale behind this approach will be expanded upon in January.
