Trinity College London - Western Cape

August 2023

Dear Trinity College London Western Cape Community,

Spring is in the air, which means that we are in the last stretch of 2023! Trinity Western Cape wishes all the Grade 12 learners and their teachers well for the final preparation for the upcoming exam sessions.

The August face-to-face exam session went very well and the results will be available this week.

We have sent out the appointment slips for the face-to-face music session in October/November, so please keep an eye out for these. The appointment slips for drama will be sent out this week. Quite a number of parents entered their children, so please follow up with your students directly regarding appointment slips. Please contact me if you have not yet received your appointment slips.

We have received a number of queries regarding digital exam entry delays, so I would like to use the opportunity to explain the process.

How do digital exam entries work?

It is important to note that the entire process is not automated, there are manual steps involved.

Once you have entered a candidate via the online platform, you receive an email with the payment reference number as well the amount due. We can only send the entry to the Submittable system when payment has cleared on our side which can take a couple of days. This process only runs twice a week, therefore the applicant does not always receive the Submittable link in the same week that they entered. This process is delayed further if your payment does not include the unique payment reference number or the money is deposited into the wrong account. We aim to respond to all entries timeously, but should you be concerned about the process at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

A big thank you to all the teachers that indicated that they are willing to part of the support network! Should you like to also join the team, please send let me know!

Regards,

Carin

TopAchieversConcert

We are excited to announce the plan to bring back the Top Achievers concert this year, and we are aiming to run this event in afternoon of Saturday November 18th, with venue details to follow later. This is a week after the face-to-face exam session ends meaning that students should still be in performance mode.

I will publish more definite details at the end of this month, but I wanted to share this news as a way of motivating teachers and students. Qualifying performers will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of peers and the wider community, and it will be a wonderful celebration of the all the hard work that went into the preparation.

We aren't going to publish qualifying criteria, although it will be reserved for students scoring well above 90%. The idea is to put together a varied concert program showcasing achievement across instruments, ages and grades. This means it may not be possible to include every student above a certain mark. We will also look to include candidates submitting digital exams, rather than solely face-to-face exam candidates.

All the best!
