July 2024
Dear Trinity College London South Africa community,
We are into the second half of the year, and for Trinity SA this means we are fast approaching the business end of our annual calendar. Entries for our Sept-Nov music and drama exams are in their final stages, and we are busy planning exam sessions for upwards of four thousand candidates countrywide. It’s really encouraging to see an uptick in face-to-face exam entry numbers compared with the past couple of years. In addition to the many thousands of digital exam entries that come in throughout the year.
In other news, it is with excitement and a little sadness that I must report imminent changes to the Trinity SA team, as I will be leaving at the end of July. However, with the national team now firmly in place and working well I’m sure this won’t have much impact. A couple of years ago the National Manager role was a mix of admin, support, oversight, planning, and marketing. My time has been spent splitting out these functions and handing them to other more qualified team members. And in addition, finding and supporting new reps in the Western Cape and KZN, as well as bringing in some new systems behind the scenes to improve how we operate. These have all broadly been successful, and we now have a more capable and efficient local team. Having successfully worked myself out of a job, it’s time for me to get out of the way and hand over.
Gill Koller, our excellent Trinity rep based in Jhb, will take over many of my responsibilities in the new role of National Operations Co-Ordinator. Gill will focus on planning and managing the national face-to-face exam sessions as well as continue looking after the Gauteng region. She will be ably supported by Oliver Collins in the role of National Administrator. Oliver has been working alongside me in the Cape Town office for the past year and in that time has become an expert in all things operational and digital; specifically digital exams, digital theory, certificates, result queries, and more. With their combined skillsets, Gill and Oliver make a formidable team.
We also now have a local marketing operation and I’m sure you will have noticed our improved newsletter and social media presence over the past 18 months. And lastly all our reps; Dawn, Mariette, Margi, Carin, Jenny and Gill remain in place and ready to assist going forward.
It has been a pleasure meeting and working with many of you, and I've been grateful for the opportunity to watch and learn from some of our top educators. If you're interested in what I'm doing next, leave me your email address and I'll let you know.
Best regards,
Peter
