Example Grade 2 Improvisation test (Stylistic stimulus)

Claudia performs an example Grade 2 improvisation test.

The improvisation test assesses candidates’ ability to improvise fluently, coherently and creatively in response to a musical stimulus. Candidates can choose between three types of improvisation stimulus: stylistic, harmonic or motivic. The harmonic and motivic tests are performed unaccompanied, whereas the stylistic test, as shown here, contains an accompaniment which is played by the examiner.
