IQ vs EQ, activities to support the development of emotional intelligence in younger learners

This webinar focussed on teaching English to young learners in particular. During the webinar, Martin Oetegenn and FoELT 2019 presenter Anna Britton explored ways teachers can develop emotional intelligence (EQ) in their young learners.

IQ vs EQ

Anna kicked off the webinar with a comparison between IQ and EQ and an overview of why EQ is something teachers should be considering in their lesson planning.

Martin and Anna then went on to outline the three domains/eight competencies of Emotional Intelligence. If you'd like to read more about this, the Six Seconds website is an excellent place to start. www.6seconds.org/emotional-intelligence/.

Activities

Anna shared a range of tried an tested activities she uses with Young Learners to help develop their EQ. If you'd like to find out how to use the following resources, watch the webinar. We'd love to hear how you got on with them.
